Senior Accounting Officer (AR/AP) – Leadership Opportunity (Japanese speaking)

Step into a key leadership role with a leading Japanese food distributor that’s driving its presence across Australia. As a Senior Accounting Officer (AR/AP), based in Sydney, you’ll oversee essential financial processes that are critical to the company’s growth and continued success. You will manage both Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions while working closely with senior management to offer strategic financial insights that shape the future of the business.

What does your next role look like?

  • Financial Management: Oversee AR and AP processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial transactions.
  • Reporting & Analysis: Prepare and review journal entries, general ledger reconciliations, and financial statements, offering a comprehensive view of the company’s financial performance.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Collaborate with senior management to develop accurate financial forecasts and annual budgets.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with tax and financial regulations, keeping the business in line with legal requirements.
  • Process Optimisation: Drive process improvements for more efficient financial operations.
  • Strategic Financial Support: Provide in-depth financial analysis and insights that support strategic decisions and business development.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor the accounting team, fostering a high-performing, collaborative environment.

A little about you…

  • Qualifications & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field, with at least 5 years of experience in a finance role focusing on AR/AP and financial reporting.
  • Bilingual Ability: Your proficiency in both Japanese and English (written and spoken) will be vital in bridging communication between local teams and international stakeholders.
  • Analytical Mindset: Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide clear, actionable insights.
  • Leadership & Communication: Proven ability to lead teams and communicate financial information effectively to senior management.
  • Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, with a thorough understanding of financial regulations.
  • Tech-Savvy: Advanced Excel skills and experience using MYOB will be essential in streamlining financial reporting and improving overall efficiency.

Location…

Auburn, Sydney, NSW – Conveniently accessible by public transport (60-70% of staff commute by train).

Working Hour…

Full-time, 38 hours per week (Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:06 PM). Flexibility in working hours may be considered based on individual circumstances.

Salary range…

$70,000 – $85,000 per annum + superannuation, depending on experience and qualifications.

Working flexibility…

This is a full on-site position. However, working hours may be negotiable based on individual circumstances and business requirements.
