Assistant Project Manager – Your Next Step in Property Development | Japanese-English

Victoria, Melbourne CBD & Inner Suburbs Melbourne VIC

Full time

Competitive salary package available depending on experience

Your responsibilities will include:

⚫︎ Supporting the planning and delivery of residential land development and commercial property projects
⚫︎ Monitoring project programmes, budgets, milestones, risks, decisions, and outstanding actions
⚫︎ Coordinating with developers, architects, engineers, contractors, property managers, and other professional advisers
⚫︎ Preparing project updates, presentations, meeting materials, reports, and internal approval documents
⚫︎ Assisting with market research, property analysis, feasibility studies, cash-flow information, due diligence, and the assessment of new opportunities
⚫︎ Coordinating project and business information between the Australian team and the company’s head office in Japan
⚫︎ Supporting commercial office operations, including the coordination of project records, contracts, invoices, payments, and related documentation
⚫︎ Tracking agreed actions and ensuring important matters are reported or escalated to the appropriate decision-makers

You will receive guidance on major project and commercial decisions. Your role is to keep information accurate, follow up reliably, support sound decision-making, and gradually take on greater project responsibility as your experience develops.

Following up with different stakeholders comes naturally to you, and you take care when working with numbers, contracts, reports, and business documents.

Property projects interest you — not only the completed development, but also how research, planning, financial analysis, approvals, and stakeholder coordination come together to produce the final result.

You manage your own responsibilities while recognising when an issue needs to be discussed or escalated. A structured corporate environment — with formal reporting and internal approvals — is either familiar to you or something you are ready to learn quickly.

To be considered, you will need:

⚫︎ Professional working proficiency in both Japanese and English
⚫︎ The ability to communicate with a head office in Japan through meetings, emails, reports, presentations, and business documents
⚫︎ Foundational project management, project support, or stakeholder coordination skills
⚫︎ Strong working knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint
⚫︎ The ability to work accurately with numerical, contractual, and commercially sensitive information
⚫︎ Strong attention to detail, organisation, and dependable follow-through
⚫︎ A strong interest in property development or commercial real estate
⚫︎ Full, unrestricted working rights in Australia

Applicants requiring current or future employer sponsorship cannot be considered for this position.

Experience that would be advantageous

⚫︎ Approximately one to four years of relevant professional experience
⚫︎ Experience in the Australian property, construction, project management, engineering, consulting, finance, or commercial real estate sector
⚫︎ Exposure to feasibility studies, development budgets, cash-flow analysis, or investment assessment
⚫︎ Involvement in residential land development or commercial office projects
⚫︎ Experience working for a Japanese or other Asian-headquartered organisation
⚫︎ Experience in a large organisation with structured reporting, approval, and escalation processes
⚫︎ An understanding of how proposals and approval documents progress through different levels of management
⚫︎ A relevant tertiary qualification in property, construction management, architecture, engineering, urban planning, finance, accounting, economics, or business

Direct property development experience is welcome but not essential. Candidates from adjacent professional backgrounds will also be considered if they demonstrate strong coordination and numerical skills and a serious interest in developing a career in property.

This role may suit you if you currently work as a

Project Coordinator • Project Administrator • Assistant Project Manager • Development Assistant • Property Coordinator • Property Analyst • Commercial Analyst • Graduate Engineer • Graduate Quantity Surveyor • Business or Corporate Planning Coordinator

Candidates working in finance or accounting may also be suited if their experience includes property, projects, feasibility, investment analysis, or commercial reporting.

Your current title matters less than the skills you have already developed: accuracy, coordination, numerical confidence, stakeholder communication, and dependable follow-through.

Hands-on exposure to residential land development and commercial office assets
⚫︎ Direct, regular contact with the General Manager and senior stakeholders
⚫︎ Practical experience across project coordination, feasibility, and commercial reporting
⚫︎ Regular professional use of Japanese and English
⚫︎ A stable platform to build a long-term career in property development

.

Take the Next Step

You do not need to be an experienced Project Manager or meet every advantageous criterion.

If you can work professionally in Japanese and English, hold full, unrestricted working rights in Australia, and want to build a long-term career in property development, we would be pleased to hear from you.

Please submit your resume through Career Meister. Shortlisted candidates will receive further confidential information about the organisation, its projects, and the selection process.

All applications and enquiries will be handled in strict confidence.
