Junior Engineer – CAD & DESIGN

About This Position…

Our Client is a well reputed Japanese company which has manufactured switchgear equipment within Australian and New Zealand for numerous of years. The team wishes for a Junior Engineer who would take on the role to design and modifying their existing products.   

The position is a Full-Time Position in Epping, Melbourne with a package of up to 85K + Super.

Suitable for someone with good mechanical engineering knowledge and skills and have hands- on experience with CAD.

What does your next role look like?

The role includes but is not limited to:

  • Review all design information provided by the customer, resolving any incomplete, ambiguous or conflicting requirements.
  • Familiarise and understand customer tenders, prepare and collate necessary documentation as per tender specifications.
  • Using Solid Works and or Auto CAD draw mechanical/electrical drawings as per customer specifications and Australian Standards.
  • Cost Designs using a Bill of Materials.
  • Develop and implement engineering and quality standards and procedures to assure uniform practices and adequate internal controls.
  • Continually seek means of reducing the cost of existing products.
  • Assist Engineering Manager, Technical Sales Engineers and subcontract suppliers in design related matters associated with company products & components.
  • React promptly and positively to any design weakness identified during design verification or in application of the product.
  • Give technical advice to all operating departments as required.
  • Ensure that products produced by the company are tested to the relevant standard or test specification using NATA registered laboratories where appropriate
  • Develops programs and advises on product development/re-engineering requirements, proposes ways of reaching objectives in the most economical manner meeting any unusual conditions which may arise.
  • Assist in achieving the Company’s objectives.
  • To raise Quality Problem Reports where required by a system/ product failure.
  • To negotiate on behalf of the company with outside agencies on technical matters.

A little about you…

Formal Education:

  • Electrical/ Mechanical Engineering Degree/Diploma

Training: 

  • ISO 9001, ISO 1400.
  • AUTOCAD/SOLID WORKS
  • OHSE Awareness

Work Experience: 

  • Two or more years’ experience performing a similar role ideally from a manufacturing environment who supply to the power industry.
  • Greater emphasis on mechanical with an understanding of electrical.

People Management Skills:

  • Good communication skills verbal and written.
  • Attention to Detail
  • A strong desire for product quality.

Other Skills, Job Requirements or Special Attributes Required:

  • Good computer skills and time management.
  • ISO 9001 Quality, ISO 14001 Environmental and ISO 45001 Safety Awareness and exposure
  • Strong analytical skills and expertise in “Root Cause” analysis
  • Demonstrated experience working with contract manufacturers, suppliers, or distributors
  • Proactive nature
  • Desire to own decisions and take responsibility for outcomes.

Candidates must have the right to work full-time in Australia.

Location…

Melbourne North – City of Whittlesea LGA (Own transport is highly preferred)

Working Hour…

8.30am to 5.00pm | Monday to Friday

Start From…

This role will start from June to July 2022
